It is situated 35 miles off the north coast of Honduras. The Bay Islands are an extension of the Sierra de Omoa mountain range. Roatan is a long, narrow island, 40 miles in length, total landmass of 49 square miles. The mountainous backbone is surrounded by extensive coral reefs. Fishing villages and towns dot the coastline.
CoCo View Resort is located on the protected south shore of Roatan. Coral reefs are in more shallow water, and experience calmer seas than the deeper and rougher north side.
